Life in General...

Well, I survived the dentist. It still hurts to yawn, mainly from the shots, and then some from having to have my mouth open for almost 2 hours. Yes, yes I know! "But Corey, you can talk FOREVER and don't complain about your mouth hurting." Well I can do a lot of things with my mouth that don't make it hurt, but then again I'm not getting shots then either, now am I? lol

Saturday's party had my house over run with more kids than ever before. The girls went to bed super late, which of course meant they awoke at the butt crack of dawn. As a matter of fact they were up Before dawn!! I of course slept until...well, I don't even know when I got out of bed. When I did get up this is what I found. Usually they are going at each others throat, as sisters are known to do. Thankfully for my sanity, that day they were best friends

I made the girls lunch and we watched some t.v. It was only a matter of time before one of them lost the battle. As usual it was Kiera. For those of you who don't know, Kiera has an innate ability to pass out anywhere, at any time and in any position.

Needless to say it was a pajama day for us girls while Jason, poor guy, had to work on a Sunday.

Even though there doesn't seem to be much color exploding in the sky each morning around here right now I was still able to get a really beautiful picture of the sunrise and the morning fog.

I went on the back deck to take some photos and realized that Jason had moved the camper out of the driveway, for the winter, only to block part of my view. Damn it!

At least I'm still able to see the beautiful tree in the neighbors yard, and the trees of our back yard.

Lastly today is a photo just for my friend TICKLEBEAR.  I mentioned getting a tattoo last week and with the emotions of the week & weekend I forgot about posting the photo on the blog. So this one's for you TeeBee.

The tattoo wraps all the way around my right arm from wrist to elbow. The top photo is the inside of my forearm, and the bottom is the outside.  If you look really close you can see a Heart and a Pacifier in the angel wings.

This is of course not my first tattoo. It is only the latest. I have hodge podge tattoos in various places, each one with it's own meaning and/or reason. This one is the most special one outside of the flowers on my back that represent each one of my girls. Originally this particular one started out as just the wings. Then as time went on I became restless and wanted to add to it. I went to my ink man, whom I used to work for back when I had a job, and asked him to do something with my arm. I told him what I liked and didn't like and asked him to come up with something. He knows me well and was a great support through all the issues we had with Maggie. I was blown away with what he designed. Not only because it was beautiful, and "So Me", but because he sat there and drew it on my arm right in front of me. He truly is an amazing tattoo artist, and a great friend.

Anyways enough blathering on. I hope everyone has had a good week so far.

...

This weekend went well. Chinese for dinner on Friday, and cupcakes for Maggie's birthday.  We released balloons on Saturday morning with messages of love and birthday wishes from all of us written on them. Company came over Saturday afternoon. All in all it was a good weekend with good food, delicious wine (lots of it), and the best friends a girl could ask for. Thanks everyone for helping to make our weekend wonderful, and for celebrating the beautiful Soul that is Maggie Alice. Love you Monkey♥

As you can see by the first photo I did not make this years cupcakes. It was too hard last year and I really wanted to avoid crying into cake batter this year. I wasn't all that impressed by these so next year I'm either finding a better bakery or I'm going to make my own sans the tears.

Because it was raining so much last week I really don't have very many nice photos to show you so here are some taken in Iowa by my sister in-law on the theie way home from our house to theirs in Nebraska.

I can't remember if this next one was from Kristen, or my friend Melissa. I do believe it's one of Mel's photos from here in Michigan. I know the fall colors is Mel's though.

Lastly since I don't have any new pretty flower photos from my yard here are some photos a friend sent to me not too long ago. Thank you Pat. You're a wonderful friend and person. You always know just how to brighten my day. ♥

Thank you to everyone who left comments on the last post and who wrote emails. Your love was much needed and much appreciated.

Hopefully I'll have more to blog about this week. For now, I'm off to the dentist to get some repair work done on the work that the last dentist messed up. Wish me Luck!!

Wishing all of you a wonderful week.

A Week in Review...

Okay, so it's a bit more than a week, but hey, it is what it is.  Last weekend My brother in-law, his wife (who's my best friend), and our nephew came from Nebraska to visit.  Having the camper comes in handy during times like these, ensuring that everyone gets their own bed.

While I continued to take photos I didn't exactly have time to organize them and create posts. So this is my week in review.

First I took both of the girls to the dentist. NO CAVITIES!! YAY!! Here they are getting fluoride treatments.

Here is the only one of our company I can show you. His name is Payten. Isn't he beautiful?  He's a wonderful dog who loves to cuddle. I almost wish we could have kept him. Almost.

I'm not sure which days they were, for some days were just uneventful as far as sunrises and sunsets go, but they are in order. (I only know that because of the photo # from the camera) ;).

Sunrise

Sunrise

I'm not getting the really vibrant colors for the sunrises much anymore, but they can still be beautiful. These two are a couple of my favorites.

The tops of the tree branches you see in the above photo are from the Maple tree in our front yard. The photo below is before the heavy winds we had this past weekend. I'll have to take another photo of it today so you can see what it looks like almost nekkid. hehe!

Finally some color in the sky at sunset.

Also the sun is moving from setting behind the shed on the right side of the yard over to the left. Now it's setting behind the large pine tree. Which makes it harder to catch the sun. Sometimes by the time I notice the coloring outside, the sun is already behind the tree or just below the tree line, not making for the best photos. I guess I'll just have to pay closer attention to the time.

Yesterday morning was one of the prettier sunrises. I just love it when I'm able to get the flag in the shot. As you can see our flag is getting pretty thin. Next spring we're going to have to get a new one.

Also this past week my sister in-law and I went wine tasting with a friend. It was a wonderful day, and I had a grand time. Thanks Kristen & Melissa. This is what I came home with. YUM!!

I can't wait until Maggie's birthday on Friday. I'm having the Spumante. The bubbles make me giggle and I have a feeling I'm going to need all the help I can get that day. :)

Thanks for hanging out with me. I hope you enjoyed the week in review. I have a breakfast date with my Mom this morning, and later today at 1pm I have an appointment with my ink man. Yay!! I'm so excited. Finally my tattoo will be finished. It's been almost a year since we started this and I can't wait to finally see the finished piece. I'll be sure to take photos and post them later this week. Well I'm off to shave my arm and get ready for my Mommy and Me date. Yes, I know. I'm a girl, but I still have to shave my arm. Not every girl can be blessed with no arm hair ya know, so bugger off! ;)

Thanks again for stopping in today, and don't forget to keep your eye on the Haiku contest being held by Rafael at Ramblings From My Typer to see who wins.

Have a grand day & make it wonderful.

Such is Life...

To steal a quote from one of my sister in-law's, "People get sick and it sucks. People get really sick and it really sucks". I'm sure she won't mind since she stole my candle, which I don't mind because she thinks I'm, and I quote, "BadAss". Thanks Jen. LOVE YOU.

Anyways, back to the quote and the nature of it. In my last post I mentioned that I will be lighting another candle for yet another person. Last year my father in-law became very ill. This past spring he he had surgery to remove a lump of cancer. He was doing well for a while, but the cancer came back. It's spread widely and quickly leaving him no options for treatment, not even experimental. He's terminal, and he's okay with that. He has all his ducks lined up. Everything set up to care for his wife after he's gone and then some. He's only 61 years old, yet he's lived the life of two people. He's the original Sailor. He's been around the world, seen and done more than most people would ever think of doing. My hat goes off to him for his bravery in all of this. He is loved very much by his family and his friends. It's going to be a very hard and sad coming time for everyone. The doctors say 4-6 months but we (all of his kids) aren't even sure he will make the 4 months. Time will tell. What more can we do other than live each day with him in the hopes of enriching the life that he has left.

The part that has me worried is how is this going to affect our girls? It's only been two years since we lost our dear Miss Margaret. When Maggie died it crushed Lily, and confused Kiera. In the last two years the girls have managed to deal with the death of their sister rather well. When  you think about it two years really isn't all that much time. I'm afraid of how they are going to react to the news. We plan on telling them a little about what is going on this weekend. Then over a little bit of time letting them in on the whole story of what's going on. We are already discussing and getting prepared to set up grief counseling for them and possibly us too. Although I do have to admit that I don't believe losing a parent is as hard as losing your child. Especially a child as young as Maggie was (2). I'm not saying it's not hard or devastating, just not as hard. Don't hate on me, it's my opinion and I have a right to it.

Just as I said at the beginning, "People get sick and it sucks. People get really sick and it really sucks"
