Haiku Monday Contest

This last week I won the haiku contest. I can't tell you the last time I wrote a poem, let alone a haiku poem. Thank you Amanda @ Funky Frugal Mommy for boosting a lady's spirit. Anyways, this week it's my turn to host. Sorry about the lateness of the post, but if you know me, Resident Miss Tardy Pants, you aren't surprised.

In honor of the new year I have chosen the theme of Aspiration/Aspire.

Aspiration:
     noun:
       1.  strong desire, longing, or aim; ambition.
       2.  a goal or objective desired

Aspire:
     verb:
       1.  to long, aim, or seek ambitiously; be eagerly desirous,
especially for something great or of high value.

Many of us tend to make resolutions for the upcoming year. Many of us break those resolutions rather quickly. I myself do not make resolutions because I know I will most likely be the first person to break them. Instead I set goals. Small goals that I know I can achieve. With each goal met I try to make the next goal a little bigger, a little more challenging. The thing about goals is they are leading somewhere. Each goal met is a building block for something bigger. There has to be an ultimate goal you are aspiring to reach otherwise the smaller goals are for naught.

Everyone has aspirations. A little girl aspires to be a princess so she becomes a beauty queen. A young man aspires to be a world renowned architect so he builds things. A woman desires to own her own bakery so she saves money to buy the best mixers and kitchen equipment available. A man aspires to retire early and travel the world so he works odd jobs on his days off from his 9-5 job to earn extra money that he can invest.

Be it the stepping stone goals or the big picture aspirations. Whether it's about a little girl growing up to be a space engineer, a squirrel set on having the biggest nut collection for winter, or if it's your own personal goals/aspirations, put it into the standard 5-7-5 haiku format and leave it in the comments section below. Now I'm by far not an expert on all the rules of haiku, but as long as it has the correct syllable count, and it's posted in the comments by the time I log on Tuesday morning, it qualifies for my judgement.  So let the game begin.

Kisses
CoreyJo

  2. I have some things, but they might be a bit dark... I'll... get something together soon. It's up, if you want to look. Or... not. Not sure it fits the theme, either. Just what hit me. I'm thinking, I'm thinking.

    1. Dark or light, it matters not. What you feel is what makes the magic of haiku work. :D

  3. Good theme! I'll be back.

  4. Excellent CoreyJo. You put some thought into this! This should produce some interesting results

I have one to offer at the moment.

    Contest; daggers crossed.
Strength or guile wins status, rank.
    Breeding rights at stake.

I have been watching this lately among some of the "outdoor pets".

A visual is up at http://serendipitouswildmoments.wordpress.com/.

    2. Sexy, in a stated manner. Hmm, how about... romantic? Yes, not raw, like just "sexy". Hmm? Of course I'm a romantic fool!

    3. Yes, I concur! Hard to put into words but deeper than sexy. More...sensual? almost... Hmmm, I must be a romantic fool too! ;)

    1. It's working Serendipity. Instead of the silly passwords I monitor the comments. Sometimes it's a bit before I can get to them. I received all of your comments. I only posted the first one though. :)

    2. Thanks CoreyJo :-). The one I posted as Anonymous did give me a message that it would be monitored, but the tries I made logged in gave me nothing, erased the comment from the box, and left my url in the "Reply as" box so it looked like they were not posting.

Your comment on my page tells me you caught my intention - we are so alike with other creatures, really. I did intend for it to sound like a Medieval duel..

    3. You're welcome Serendipity. Blogger can be such a moody ...witch sometimes. Lately it's been giving even blogger profiles issues. I've received a lot of duplicate comments. So it's not just you being from wordpress.

Yay!! I like being able to understand poems. Sometimes I'm lost and just can't figure them out. This one I immediately thought of the animalistic tendencies of man, but I am a lusty romantic like that. ;) Then as an after thought I thought of the bucks, who can be just as brutal as man when it comes to horomones & manhood.

  6. I have been meaning to stop by and wish you a Happy New Year and a HUGE Thank you for the holiday greeting. I was truly touched that you remembered me! I never got round to sending cards, even though I bought some lovely ones. With place to attend too, work, and seeing two men, it just got out of hand! I also noticed your blogging more here too, so Im happy again .......

    1. Awe, Thank you Maddie!

How could a girl forget you? You my dear are quite the unforgettable. No worries about not sending cards. Shhh.. don't tell anyone but, aside from a select few cards, the ones I sent out this year... I bought last year and didn't send out. Anyways, I do hope you liked the birds, I know you have lots of the feathered little beauties for your holiday decorations. OH! And TWO mens!! You really need to email about this. I may be able to help you to handle these mens. ;) It feels good to be blogging again.

  7. Wrote these last night, but unnerved myself with them. Visuals... cool the sting, a bit. After sleeping on it, and with feedback, the two I wrote before retreating, and an extra where I left off. I have to wonder if E.A. Poe... had to back off and think before presenting? I don't think he would always approve of my stuff, save when of a mood to slam the accelerator! Oh, and I am up

    Crazy, baby.

    I am told to quit
I am told I should face facts
    I won't sleep 'til dead

    for all the things wrong
    my guilt, shame, mistakes, heartache
    bearable for love

    the wind in my hair
    just impossibilities
    walk through walls daily

    1. Ohhhh, I like very much!! Wonderful entries Doom! I'm glad you decided to use these. As for E.A. Poe... it's hit or miss. You just never know what goes through a persons mind or why. The first one is still poking at me.... I'm still not sure why either. I'm off to view your post!

    2. That first one gives me some pretty good jabs once in a while as well. That one just bubbled out after reading your post. I think it's because most people are unhappy with other people who suggest that anyone just quit, die, really. That's not the right way. Just a guess, even for my own part in that.

  12. Hmmmm...

CJ was hooked by a sailor
Who aspired only to nail her
    Yet barely from bed
    He was happily wed
Rising each morn to impale her:D

    La, dee la, dee laaaaaaa....anyways

    Close your eyes and SEE
    distant possibilities
    Lassoing the moon

    Wish not on a star
    Grab, instead, your moon's desire
    Milk, until it seeds

    Wife, two kids...a dog
    Aspirations predicate
    Winsome willows bend

  14. Hahaha, I love Karl’s. The man with what must be a high security clearance wants to dump it all for an “F” clearance!

Closest I have gotten to retirement from those clearance levels (with planned intent, buy the way) is:

    Downwardly mobile.
    Urban flight pays dividends
    Laid-back lifestyle gained.

    1. Well, okay, so my retirement plan wasn't all that awful. Thanks for the reminder Serendipity. Don't know if that is what you had hoped. But, come to think of it, for me? Yeah...

      I can get so confused!
