I'm not sure what's going on with the sunsets and sunrises these days, but I feel blessed to witness so much beauty. And from my own yard none the less.
*NOTE: Click on the photos to enlarge them and then they really show their beauty, especially the last one.
I was preparing to take the trash bin out to the curb last night I noticed the sky was turning a brilliant pink. I grabbed my camera and on my way I went. This is what I saw. The amazing thing is that this view is facing East.
Then as I looked to the right I saw another thing of beauty. Look closely, it's not too big or bright, but it's there.
After I set the bin beside the drive I turn around and this is what I saw.
I crouched down and took this photo. It's my favorite.
I'd like to apologize to my neighbors and all the people driving by during my photo session for having to see me in my pajama's and my horrid bed head that just got worse the entire day. :)
I hope the beauty all around us lately only gets better as the seasons turn.

Rural beauty...
This was the sunrise from my front porch this morning after the girls left for school.
Today is going to be a good day, I can feel it in my heart ♥
Too bad it wasn't as warm as it looks.

NEW LOOK!!
Hey All!! Don't worry, you're in the right place. Well you are if you're looking for Monkey's & Windex. I've changed the look mainly because I wanted a wider setup. I like this one a lot. Please let me know if there's something not up to snuff visually. If a font color is too light to read, or any other problem. I'll try my best to fix it. I hope you like it.!
Cheers!

My First Day Alone...
Yesterday was the first day of school for my girls, as it was for many of the surrounding areas. I thought I was ready to be alone for the day. I had a whole list of things to do. Bills to pay, dishes to wash, laundry to fold, and errands to run. As usual I did everything except the dishes & laundry. The rest of the day no matter what I was doing I had to fight back tears.
What's wrong? I kept asking myself. This is nothing new. You were alone all last school year. Why are you crying, it's finally quiet in the house?!?
It wasn't until I brought Jason his lunch supplies for work that I figured it out. He walks up to my window from the rear of the car. As he stops at the window I look up at him and I know. I know what's wrong. I know why I'm on the verge of tears. All I had to do was look into his face. When I did I saw Maggie. Everyone always says that she was yet again another carbon copy of me, just like the two before her. I don't agree with that. I've seen the photos of Jason as a baby and toddler. I see him in her every time I look at a photo of her. It only makes sense that I would see her when I look at him. I miss her, that's what's been bothering me all day.
With Jason at work & girls both gone at school all day I'm left alone for almost 9 hours. If things had turned out differently this would have been my last summer with just Maggie and I. Miss Margaret was the only one, out of the three girls, that I didn't get to have with me alone for a school year. I had Lily's first whole year practically all to myself with Jason being over seas for 6 months. I had one whole school year of just Kiera and I before Maggie was born. Kiera was only going to school for half days at the time of Maggie's passing so I didn't get that Mommy & Me time quite like I did with the others.
It's been almost 2 years now that she's been gone. As the girls return to school, I'm yet again reminded of the void in our lives. I'm fine one minute, the next it's like a Mac truck slams me in the face telling me, 'hey you! She's gone forever, she's not just sleeping in her room.' Sounds harsh I know, but that's pretty much what it feels like. I'm doing a little better now as I write this. (last night) I've made a list of must do things to help me keep busy, Lord knows I have enough to keep me busy until Christmas. It won't keep me from missing her, but it will keep me from succumbing to the darkness. I plan on actually doing my dishes & laundry so if you don't hear from me on F/B by 3 p.m. please call for emergency assistance. I may be in a housework induced coma.
Originally I was just going to post a few photos but when I started to type the intro all of the previous stuff just came gushing out. Thanks for sticking with me this long if you've made it this far.

Here are the photos from dinner out the last night before the girls had to start their 9 month sentence. It was a fun time, and the food was great as always. I didn't have my camera with me so I had to use my phone. No I don't have one of those fancy shmancy smart phones with flashes & 35 mm camera's on them...yet. hehe Sorry about the quality of the photos, I lightened them as much as I could.

When she looks innocent like this we call her *Lucy because she's the most diabolical at these times. ↓
She's really turning into a beauty. Sailor, you better get your gun ready!! ↓
He hates getting his photo taken, but he loves me so he lets me take them. ↓
Sorry I didn't get any photos of our food. We were so hungry and were half way through our meals before I realized I'd forgotten to take a picture. Oh well, such is life. Maybe next time.
*note: Lucy is short for Lucifer.
Honestly she really can be E-VILE when she wants to, and very sneeky, too. (just ask Lily about the metal shovel)

A Night at the Races...
I know it's not Friday, but I confess...I forgot about confessions on Friday.
The girls and I hung out at the Knox house for quite some time yesterday. Afterwards we went to the Hartford Motor Speedway for the races. It was hot, loud, dirty, the concrete seats were painful, but the races were amazing. It's just a small dirt speedway in a little podunk town in Michigan, but looking at the girls faces you would have thought we were at Daytona. The sunset was hazy and beautiful. The races were quick, but never ending. Overall we had a blast. Great friends, lots of laughs, and an amazing evening with my family. What more could I ask for?

My camera isn't one of those fancy shmancy ones so all the photos of the cars were pretty much like this one. I won't bore you with the whole lot of them.
The sun was a deep neon red, and the air was hazy, making a beautiful setting sun.

Sorry I've been MIA. It's been a bit of a couple of weeks. Time is running out on getting ready for school to start. Jason has been working OT on his truck trying to get it ready before the cold & wet weather gets here. As the fall time nears my emotions start to run high. The depression starts to try and drag me down. I've come up with a plan though, to get me back on track. I'm going to treat myself like I do my girls. I'm going to be writing up a schedule for myself. Not only will this schedule have chores on it, it will have allotted times for blogging, and various other non-housework activities, thus keeping me on track with the daily workings of this severely disorganized housewife.
I promise to try not to come up missing again.
Huggs,
CoreyJo
This was the sunset from the back deck tonight.

Flashback #2 →The Transformation
Three months after Jason and I were married we decided to start a family. We figured that with me being on birth control religiously for 4 years that it would take a little while for us to conceive. Boy were we ever wrong. When they, whoever they are, say that it only takes once, they weren't lying. And so began the transformation that was once my youthful body into what was often referred to as "Holy S%*t" by those we knew. Every month we took a profile photo of me to send back home and show everyone the progress. At the time we lived in California. The tradition of monthly photos started when my older, little (really she was tiny, but that wouldn't sound right in the sentence.) sister, Valisatie, became pregnant with twins. From then on it became a tradition for us. I've taken all of these photos and scanned them together to show you the TRANSFORMATION.
This last photo is the day Lily was born. I was hungry, in pain, tired, anxious, and million other things. I was most definitely tired of having my picture taken, hence the face.
All in all it was good and easy birth. It just took for ever to get to the pushing. (17 hrs) Then I pushed for 16 minutes and at 11:46 pm on March 31, 2001 Lily Elizabeth Canning was born. Due to technology and poor packing skills, I've yet to find any more of Lily's photos from birth. This is the only one I have readily available.
Man I was skinny, and so young...Those were the days!! lol

I love you Lily, with all my heart and then some.
Did I mention that I beat out our friend Rob in the baby pool by 14 minutes!! That's right, don't mess with Mama!
Keep your eyes open for the next flash back "Lily-The First Two Years" coming soon..
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Friday Confessional...
I confess... Part of the reason I haven't posted this week is due to my new obsession of Words with Friends on facebook.
I confess... I failed to clean my house this week, and I dread this weekend because now I have to do it all at once.
I confess... I finally cleaned my desk and I still don't use the home pc, I'd rather use my laptop.
I confess... Now that summer is almost over I'm finding myself anticipating a daily break from my kids & the coffee dates with my girl Burnie.
I confess... I'm also scared to be alone so much again once the girls go back to school. A quiet house isn't always a good thing.
I confess... I've dearly missed my friend Becca's blog, Everyday Life, since she's been vacationing at Disney!!
Well enough about me. What about all of you?
Enjoy the weekend & make it a great one.
CoreyJo
