Haiku Winner!! (finally announced)

I SOOOO totally blew my plan to not be tardy! I do sincerely apologize for posting the winner so late in the week. It's completely unacceptable. Then again my name is Miz Tardy Pants, so I'm sure some of you aren't surprised.

Since I was late at posting the winner I've decided to accept every haiku posted no matter the time or day. It's the least I can do, I don't wanna be a pot callin' the kettle black. Who wants to be one of THOSE people? Hear say is it isn't very kosher.  So, on to the run down!


First up was Doom, with a plethora of wonderfulness! However one seemed to stand out more than the rest. I love words that end in "ous", whether they were meant to be or not. Great visuals to accompany the poems also.

Next up is a newcomer. Everyone welcome Joss to the craziness that is Haiku Monday. I must say Joss, for a rookie you sure did knock this one out of the park! I happen to read the poem before your explanation. Me being a housewife who hates dishes, I was so totally thinking of a bubble bath. However after thinking about it for a few days, I realized that you may just be right about the dishes! lol!! Great job Newbie!

Soap suds caress me

As always Karl raises the bar with his ability to paint a picture in just 17 syllables. While all of his entries this week were beautiful the one that made me sigh was this.

Our resident mischief maker, Rafa, has done it again His silvery tongue bringing to life to party as always! Most excellent haiku this week Darling, and the 'ode to me was devastatingly hilarious! What's a party without some laughs, right?!

Blazing Scarlet... I was going to crown you the new Miz Tardy Pants, but I kind fudged that one. Your haiku this week really touched me deep. Hospitals are not my favorite place to be, yet I find myself there quite often. I must agree, there is no comfort for me either.

Serendipity! You have nailed my week to a tee! It has been Hella crazy here for me. Emotionally & physically! I can't wait to see this one end and hopefully on a good note. Now again because of my tardiness your haiku is also up for judging.

As usual none of you have made the job of judging easy.  Last night I narrowed it down to two. Joss &  Doom. I was ready to flip a coin when something in me just wouldn't let go of one line. So the winner this week is:

Who would a thunk it??!

Seems I've been given an Award and tagged to play a little Q & A.  Yay!! The wonderful Becca from Everyday Life has chosen me as one of her eleven. Thank you Hon!!

11 Things about me:

~I'm addicted to taking photos with my phone.

~I'm sporadic at best when it comes to blog posts.

~I am the BIGGEST procrastinator you will ever meet.

~If I could live on a deserted Island with a shelter & unlimited sources of food I would be hard pressed to try to find a way home. I'd always be nekkid and spend my days swimming & sunning.

~I have been on the hunt for the perfect pillow for over 12 years, ever since my pillows didn't make the move to California successfully when I got married :(

~This summer I got caught by my neighbor, Earl, sunbathing topless on my back deck... more than once.

~My 7 year old told me my hugs are the best because I'm all "squishy like" and surprisingly it doesn't bother me....much.

~My dog has been my main source of entertainment for the last 10 months.

~Even though I'm a stay at home mom/housewife, every year I try to convince the Sailor to let me hire a house keeper...

     ~I would go back to a couple of days before Maggie Alice died. The day all three girls and I were locked in the kitchen carving pumpkins for Halloween. Maggie was throwing the pumpkin guts around faster than I could fill the bowl. It was an amazing day all around.

~Long or Short hair?

     ~It doesn't really matter to me. I've had all. Currently I have very short hair. See Here or Here.

     ~Smurfs

~Morning or night person?

     ~Definitely a night owl!

~If your life was a movie what would it be a comedy, drama, horror?

     ~A dramatic comedy with a few horror scenes tossed in here and there.

     ~I would hope for a boy only because I don't have one, but I would love & accept it whatever the sex.

Haiku Texture Winner!!

 Picking texture I thought I was going to make things simple for me. In reality I've made them quite complicated. All day yesterday and today while I painted trim until my arms felt like falling off I thought about each entry. I just kept reciting them over and over in my mind brush stroke after brush stroke. Thankfully I had to write this post or I'd not even get a break tonight. So this is going to be short and sweet.

Thank you to each and everyone one of you for playing this week. Thank you to Becca & Jon for donating their expertise at writing haiku for our entertainment. (I really wish you two would let us judge you once in a while).  Each haiku was amazing in it's own right, all of them pleasing to the ear as I recited them aloud. Some made me laugh, some taught me a lesson, some made me horny, one made me cry and one even made me gag. It still amazes me on how different people see the same thing so differently. I loved each and everyone and have had much difficulty in deciding which to pick the winner. If I had more time I would write about each one, but since I have a tendency to be quite long winded I'll just give you my top three picks, in no particular order.



Rafa's:

Masks what lies beneath


Makes me think of the unknown on the other side of the reflection. Is it the wonderful world of mermaids & mermen? Or is it the scary ghost of the lost and not yet found. I personally am very glad you decided on puting it with visuals, HOT HOT HOT!!



Fishy's:

Corrugated face
displays personal hist'ry
of frequent laughter

More times than not when a person's wrinkles are talked about it's assumed it's from stress and hard times. I love that Fishy associated them with laughter and good times.



Karl's:

Smooth paddle hundred joule jolt

This one really touched home with me. So many times I've wished this were the ending for my Maggie Alice, but it is what it is. I think it's the wording that really has me loving it and of course I'm a sucker for a happy ending.
